Off-the-shelf / Cantilevered Rotation Fixtures

Flotron’s offtheshelf cantilevered rotation fixture is designed to be a cost-effective solution to allow ergonomic full access to cantilevered payloads. The CRF design intent is to support small satellites or satellite instruments during assembly, integration and test activities. The spaceflight hardware can be supported in a cantilevered orientation so that the longitudinal axis is parallel to the floor and then rotated 360 degrees.

Small Satellite Fixtures

Flotron’s off‐the‐shelf small satellite fixture product line is offered in four models. The CTL36, CTL48 and CTL60 models have rotation centerline heights of 36”, 48” and 60” respectively (as measured from the floor to the rotation centerline). The CTL‐AH model has adjustable height using a manual hand crank input and is adjustable from 30” – 60” (as measured from the floor to the rotation centerline). The design intent of the small satellite fixture series is to support small satellites or satellite instruments during assembly, integration and test activities. The spaceflight hardware can be supported in a cantilevered orientation so that the longitudinal axis is parallel to the floor and then rotated 360 degrees. Alternatively, the Secondary Axis (SA) option can be specified. In addition to providing a rotation axis along the payload centerline, the SA option allows the technician to tilt the payload from horizontal to vertical, upside down and then back to horizontal (pointing the opposite direction).

Mid-Size Satellite Fixture

Flotron’s off‐the‐shelf mid-size satellite fixture is designed to be a cost-effective solution to provide single or dual axis rotation of mid-sized satellites or other valuable hardware without the need for costly motors and electronics. The CTL129 utilizes manual inputs that will accept hand drills or air tools for rotation of the primary and secondary axes. The design intent of this fixture is to support mid-size satellites or satellite instruments during assembly, integration and test activities. The spaceflight hardware can be supported in a cantilevered orientation so that the longitudinal axis is parallel to the floor and then rotated 360 degrees. Alternatively, the Secondary Axis (SA) option can be specified.
